Terms and Conditions of 4x4 and Camper Rental
Due to the unique nature of 4x4 and camper rental the following terms and conditions are applicable in conjunction with the standard TCH terms and conditions. ( add click through to Standard Terms & Conditions ) Standard Rates include:
Minimum Rental Duration Minimum rental period: 5 days. Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e. day of pick-up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of what time it is collected or dropped off. A contract fee of R100.00 is charged on all rentals
Long-term Rental TCH offers discounted rates for long term rentals. Please contact us directly for details.
Rental Locations (Vehicle collection and return)
By special arrangement : Maun, Victoria Falls, Maputo, Dar es Salaam, and Nairobi All branches are closed Christmas Day. One Way Rental Fee For all one way hires within South Africa ( JHB & CPT ) a one way fee of R3,500.00 is applicable. A one way fee of R 4,500.00 applies for all cross border one way hires (to Namibia - Windhoek and reverse). A one way fee of R 5,000.00 applies for cross border one way hires to Maun – Botswana and reverse. License and Minimum Age A valid national driver license is required. Non-English language national driving licenses must be presented in conjunction with an official translation or valid international driver’s license. The minimum age is 21 years. A handling fee of R250.00 shall be charged on all traffic fines. Standard Excess Policy All 4x4 vehicles come with comprehensive insurance cover. In the event of a claim an excess of R 1000 is payable by the renter. IMPORTANT The renter is fully liable for any damage to South Africa 4x4 vehicle or third party property if:
Accidents By law all accidents must be reported to South Africa 4x4 and the Local Police within 24hrs. Failing to report accidents voids all insurance cover and the Hirer becomes fully liable for all costs.
South Africa 4x4 / TCH reserves the right to apply the above conditions as they deem fit. South Africa 4x4 offer the following two (2) options to reduce or waive the Standard Excess: Excess Reduction 1 Road Restrictions 4x4 Vehicles are allowed to be driven on public bitumen / tar roads as well as on public recognized 4x4 tracks in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and Zambia and Zimbabwe. Special permission is required from South Africa 4x4 for full off road use and for use in other countries. No Entry allowed into Malawi and Tanzania. A cross border fee of R1000.00 applies for travel into Mozambique. Repairs Repairs of up to R 1,000.00 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. Amounts above R 1,000.00 require approval from TCH on-road assistance. Vehicle Return All vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. Cancellation Fees Fees in Percentage of Gross Rates if: When making your reservation a 25% non refundable deposit is required. Change of Vehicle If, for reasons beyond our control, the reserved vehicle is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost to the client. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to any form of refund. Taxes All charges include 14% VAT in South Africa and 15% in Namibia. All rates and conditions are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes. General Any claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our services to the client will be governed by the laws of South Africa. Any claim or legal action against the suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms and conditions of our contract with them. We reserve the right to amend quotes. We reserve the right not to enter in a rental agreement. Any problems experienced with a rental vehicle should be reported in writing during the rental period or at drop off. We accept no liability for any claims submitted thereafter. Please make sure you have a copy of your driver’s license and identity document.
